Depending on the desired results, the application process itself can run the gamut from easy to hard. The research that goes into selecting the right paint variety and the right tools will take the most time.
You can usually skip this step so long as you take the right steps to prep your drywall. For best results, it’s usually always smart to start with a primer.
If applied correctly, most textured paint will stay in good condition for many years, especially those with more durable finishes.
There’s more upkeep involved in this type of paint since damage requires more than just a simple patch-up. Textured paint that has been damaged after application usually requires that you fix the entire wall since going section by section could result in a disparate finish.
Even if you feel determined that you have chosen the right colour, it is worth your time and money to buy a sample and test it out in your room. Paint colours can look drastically different in your home than they will in the paint store or online. Rather than painting small patches all over your room, paint poster board with your chosen colours and tape it to your wall. You can move the poster board around the room in order to see how your colour acts in different lighting situations.
The answer to these questions could go on for pages, but we will try to keep it simple. The first thing to consider is lighting. A poorly lit room will appear brighter, bigger, and more open when painted a light paint colour. Larger rooms can be made to feel a little more cosy when painted a darker paint colour. Small rooms will have a more dramatic feel when painted darker colours. Paint colours really have a lot to do with the mood you want to evoke in a room as well as your personal style.
Tools that are generally used for superior finish include mechanised painting tools, scientific site evaluation through moisture meters, accurate measurement through laser based digital distance meters, covering and masking of furniture through masking films, express and superior sanding through electric sanders, faster and superior painting through Telescopic roller.
Interior paint typically gets dirty in many situations: hand prints around switches and knobs; splashes in kitchens and bathrooms; marks on hallways and corridors; “soot” accumulating above electric lamps and other heat sources. Removing dirt before it accumulates not only improves appearance, it reduces chances of it getting permanently embedded in the paint film.
Check for dirt periodically and assume it will be present in and near cooking areas (airborne cooking oil) and at all places at hand height. Always initially clean the surface with a mild detergent using a sponge or a soft cloth. Resort to harsher cleaners only when necessary, recognizing that alkaline cleaners can dull the sheen or gloss of oil based paint. Abrasive cleaner will burnish nearly any paint and will dull the gloss of satin, semi gloss and gloss products. Washed surfaces should be rinsed thoroughly because residual cleaner can interfere with adhesion of paint applied later.
